30 Day Challenge – Day 19

Day 19 – Discuss your views on divorce

Marriage is sacred.

I believe that divorce should be the last resort unless there’s abuse or infidelity. In those two cases, it’s clear that one person isn’t holding up their end of the deal.

Sometimes though, the love can also fade and people get tired of one another. Irreconcilable differences. If you no longer love one another, it’s ok to walk away. It’s often the case that those two people are better off as friends.

Marry the person you truly love. The one who makes you fall every day. Then, you’ll never have to worry about divorce.

Divorce hurts all involved in different ways, especially the children. That event lives with them their whole lives and haunts them sometimes as their fault.

I don’t ever want a divorce, so I’ll marry the person I love and I’ll keep communication my number one priority.

  1. It’s been a little over a year since my divorce, and I can honestly say that it was the best decision I’ve ever made. Yes, I loved him. We were together for seven years and married for three of those. He brought a lot of good things into my life, but also a lot of shadows. I had looked past a lot of infidelity and issues while we were dating (maybe because I was just young and insecure), as well as infidelity, lying, and mental/emotional abuse while we were engaged and married. In the end, it was a 2 year affair that had made me turn my heart away and start living for myself. He met this woman at his work and brought her home to meet me, saying that we would be fast friends. That couldn’t have been further from the truth as I saw the way she looked at him. I knew. She was trying to weasel her way into my marriage and take him for hers. I’ll skip the details and events that led up to it, but eventually I had had enough and it ended with a huge blowup. Not surprisingly, they were married not even two months after our divorce was final. But you know what? I am happier now than I have EVER been! I now know not to make myself into a doormat and let someone have the kind of power over me that he did. I’m a child of divorce, and yes, it may be a rash and harsh decision in some cases… But it also may be the best.

    1. I’m sorry that you had to go through that. I’m glad that you were able to get out and move on before it could take a toll on you. The future is yours now to do as you please. I wish you all the best. Thanks for dropping by.
